Zetkin Yikilmis studied both physics and prehistoric archeology in Berlin, before devoting her full energies to her love of art. After several years of work that resulted in the creation of a large catalog of graphic and installation pieces — including the widely acclaimed and controversial installation „Guantanamo Box“ — she began experimenting with video and film.
This led to her writing and directing a series of experimental and short films and to her involvement in a number of independent film projects where, in a differing roles including assistant director, she gained further experience and insight into the art of film and the film production process.
During this time she developed a unique visual style which is hallmarked by it’s highly stylized images. Owing to her practical and theoretical knowledge of fine arts and movie production, she is able to create movies which are cost-effective and have a high artistic quality.
